BBC homepage development

Late 2000 - Early 2001 saw exploration into significantly changing the structure of the BBC website. This early work led to the introduction of the now standard global navigation bar and "Uber categories" which divide the site into high level, goal-derived portals.

These designs were experimental and not the final designs (which looked like this) but the exposition of the sub-category structure and introduction of a 'push button' style toolbar were ideas which remain to this day
