![]() BBCi HomepageThe November 2001 homepage redesign was the most significant overhaul of the BBC website's web presence and high-level architecture since the introduction of the category-based classification system. A global navigation element known as 'the toolbar' was added to the entire site - some 80,000 pages. This created a top layer to the information architecture, dividing the site into portals dubbed "Uber Categories" for Television, Radio, Regional and Community based content. The final launch also served to re-brand the site into 'BBCi'. This brand strategy has since been modified and the BBC website renamed simply bbc.co.uk. The website has also been re-styled twice since the original version featured here. However, the structure put in place in 2001 remains. Role: Designer (in a team of 3 designers. This final draft was by Gideon Bullock) |
